Millie and Henry are a beautiful pair of Standard Poodles who were escorted to their photo shoot at Castlewood State Park (in St. Louis County) by Liz and Bobby. It’s probably a lesser known fact that Poodles actually have it in them to be retrievers. They can be hunting dogs, just as Pointers, Setters, Retrievers and other popular hunting dog breeds are.
A little lady like Millie with her plush poodle-cut styling can mix it up in Kiefer Creek with the best of them, and Henry sure could have too if given half a chance to chase the family of deer we saw not too far away. Millie, with her longer coat, managed to snag a number of nickel-sized burrs, which Liz was wonderfully patient in combing out.
It was a lot of fun to see these dogs enjoy the park, a new one for them. They splashed water and dirt, and stirred wakes of excitement in their nearly constant motion. And that action added to the creativity of the session, as you’ll see in certain photos in the slideshow above.
Thanks a lot for coming out, and for being such great sports, Liz and Bobby!
